As we close out 2025, the Blue Island Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry reflects on a year filled with connection, collaboration, and meaningful community engagement. From informal networking opportunities to long-standing traditions and new partnerships, 2025 continued to demonstrate the strength and vitality of Blue Island’s business community.
Coffee & Conversation Series – February through December 2025
In 2025, the Chamber launched and sustained its Coffee & Conversation series, held on the first Thursday of each month. This informal, drop-in networking event provided Chamber members and community members an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and build relationships while supporting local establishments.
Throughout the year, events were hosted at Studious Coffee Shop and DeMar’s Family Restaurant. The series will continue into 2026, with the first Coffee & Conversation scheduled for February 5, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. at Iversen’s Bakery, located at 12948 Western Avenue.
Business After Hours with Mayor Fred Bilotto – February 20, 2025
The Chamber hosted a special Business After Hours event with Mayor Fred Bilotto at the Blue Island Historical Society. Members enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres followed by a discussion on the state of the City, updates on Business Development District improvements, and a look ahead at what’s in store for Blue Island.
Annual Meeting & Best of Blue Island Awards – March 15, 2025
Our Annual Meeting and Best of Blue Island Awards once again served as a cornerstone event for the Chamber. With more than a dozen awards presented, the evening celebrated the outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals who make Blue Island thrive.
This year, the Chamber was also proud to award four scholarships to Eisenhower High School seniors, matched by the Guildhaus Alumni Association, for a total of $4000 invested in the next generation of leaders.

73rd Annual Chamber Golf Outing – June 13, 2025
The Chamber proudly hosted its 73rd Annual Golf Outing, continuing a long-standing tradition that brings members and sponsors together in support of Chamber initiatives and our Civic Leadership Scholarship Program.
Porch Concert Series – June through September 2025
Throughout the summer months, the Chamber partnered once again with the Blue Island Historical Society to co-host the Porch Concert Series. Running from June through September, the series featured local musicians, brought live music into neighborhood spaces, and created accessible entertainment for residents of all ages—strengthening community bonds and celebrating Blue Island’s vibrant arts scene.
Lunch & Learn with Guildhaus – June 26, 2025
In June, the Chamber hosted a Lunch & Learn alongside Guildhaus, highlighting their recent expansion, renovation of their main “haus,” and fundraising efforts to expand Women’s Services. The event provided members with insight into Guildhaus’ mission, services, and growing impact within the community.
Fourth of July Parade – July 4, 2025
The Chamber was proud to once again participate in the Fourth of July Parade, featuring a float with live music that entertained thousands of attendees. This beloved tradition continues to showcase the spirit and pride of Blue Island while supporting local engagement and celebration.
Citywide Scarecrow Contest – October 2025
In October, the Chamber was proud to once again participate in the Citywide Scarecrow Contest. Our entry, “Uptown Charlie Brown,” received First Place honors in the organization category, as voted on by students from local schools. The recognition highlighted both community creativity and the Chamber’s continued engagement with families and schools throughout Blue Island.
Small Business Saturday – November 29, 2025
In November, the Chamber celebrated Small Business Saturday, encouraging residents to shop local and support Blue Island’s small businesses during one of the most important retail weekends of the year. Lucky participants were entered to win a drawing for a basket of goodies and gift cards for local businesses.
Holiday Open House – December 18, 2025
The year concluded with the Chamber’s annual Holiday Open House, a festive gathering that brought members and partners together to celebrate the season and reflect on another successful year of collaboration and community support. In the spirit of giving, guests were encouraged to bring items to donate to Blue Cap’s Food Pantry, resulting in a meaningful contribution from our member base at a time when support is needed most by neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Music from A Charlie Brown Christmas Live! – December 20, 2025
Local musicians performed the iconic soundtrack from A Charlie Brown Christmas at First Lutheran Church, benefiting the Blue Island Historical Society, First Lutheran Church, and the musicians.
Ongoing Partnerships & Accomplishments
For the third consecutive year, the Chamber was honored to partner with Cook County Small Business Source, helping promote Business Advising Services and connecting local entrepreneurs with critical resources and guidance.
In addition, Executive Director Sara Brown was invited to participate in a newly formed Disability Committee for the City of Blue Island, led by Chamber member Progress Center for Independent Living. This committee will focus on advancing accessibility, inclusion, and opportunity throughout the community, further strengthening collaboration between the Chamber, City leadership, and local service organizations. As we reflect on a year full of growth and collaboration, we thank our members, partners, and community for their continued support. We look forward to another year of success in 2026.
